Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore Library (MPA)

The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore Library (MPA Library) was set up in September 1997 with the aim of consolidating the resources and supporting the research requirements of the Authority. The library is located at the 20th storey, PSA Building, and is part of the Training Division of the Authority. The Library joined SILAS since its operation and has about 1,097 records on SILAS to date.

Through the V-lib library software system, staff are able to access the library's collection of over 3700 titles which is primarily made up of books and periodicals. Staff are able to access the workstation online information for new titles acquired by the library, availability of a book, reservation placements or loan renewals using the library's computer system.

MPA Library focuses its collection on maritime and port related subject matters such as port management, maritime economics, environmental protection and information technology in relation to port management, with approximately 100 titles increase per year. To augment the knowledge base and facilitate the ease of research, the Library has also introduced online services such as Biznet, Lawnet and Newslink that would assist staff in their research.

The resources are catalogued using the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and the Library of Congress Subject Headings. Through our participation as a SILAS member, all participating libraries of SILAS are able to request resources from our collection through inter-library loans.
